1) In mythology, werewolves and the like are weak to Silver. Thematically it makes sense to have a type weak to the next closest thing, Steel.
2) Fairies in mythology are closely associated with the moon, as are werewolves and the like, so that lunar typing also fits thematically.
On top of that, I like how it doesn't exactly look Fairy-type. Kinda helps buck the trend that all/most fairies are cutesy. There's some dark fairies in mythology.
