Honestly Samurott. Surprised me designwise, then whenever I use it ingame, it never lets me down. Looks silly, but I still think it's cool and I've never liked a Water starter as much before or since, and it's among one of my favourite Pokemon in general.
There's a shit ton of runner ups though. Scolipede, Archeops, Gigalith, Eelektross, Vanilluxe, Volcarona, Lilligant, Whimsicott, Excadrill, among others. Gen 5 has lots of mons I like both designwise and for general ingame use.
