>>50705290In order to make Paul's inclusion in the PWC feel organic and worthwhile, Ideally, the writers should have introduced him way earlier into the story. Follow his progress through the PWC alongside Ash's, and have them hang out and interact every now and then in a similar manner to how Journeys has handled Cynthia. Paul is not a literal who you can just dump in the PWC finals without any prior knowledge like happened with Alan. Finally, have him fight Ash in the Semi-Finals after beating Cynthia (After all, he has a history with her), and lose in the process. The problem is that considering the poor production values of Journeys, i seriously doubt that battle would have come anywhere close to their final battle in the Sinnoh League. Especially if said battle is a 3V3 instead of a 6V6. And let's be honest, no way in hell the inevitable Ash Vs Cynthia fight will be 6V6.
