What makes doubles better is that theres more variety and thought that goes into either team building or attacking your opponent. Singles is far too reliant on walls, stalls and breaking them but alot of that comes down to the flaws in pokemon's main mechanics which double battles at least try to circumvent instead of pretending they aren't there
