>>38084080Yeah, I've seen almost nothing but Charizard. Blastoise frequently ends up not setting up in an even slightly reasonable time, and it's really easy to throw damage on potential evolution targets.
The moment you get Ampharos out, not only are you able to soften TWO of their potential attackers up for OHKO's by Naganadel, but you also immediately activate Raikou as a valid attacker that is ALSO able to OHKO a softened Stage 2, potentially even un-softened ones paired with Kukui. (Blastoise and charizard self-damage and Nidoqueen has weakness, hence why Naga can effectively OHKO.)
This is assuming they somehow KO Ampharos after its first turn. If it's out a second turn, you can spread damage to even more potential stage 2s and any hard supports like Magcargo.
Say they have two Charmanders, a Nidoran and a Farfetch'd for example. Turn 1, hit one charmander and one Nidoran. The only thing they can do to save themselves is evolve the undamaged Charmander to Charmeleon, in which case you can kill Nidoran and throw some damage on the Charmeleon to soften it in case it tries wind up for the kill. If they don't evolve anything or evolve one of the damaged Pokemon, it's effectively win condition.
They would have to have both a Charizard AND a Switch to kill the Ampharos, and even then, you now have several potential responses in Naganadel and Raikou (You remembered to put energy on that one, right?)
Include the fact that Zebstrika is unquestionably the best draw support Pokemon ever added to a theme deck and that Turn 2 Ultra Ball Naganadel combo even exists exists, and I'd say this is easily one of, if not THE best theme deck ever created. Haters can kiss my tail.
