Alola is very charming, and so are the characters, the Pokémon designs, the villain team. I like how this game starts the trend of having the regional dex and the new mon designs informing the region's culture and lore by designing all Pokémon around a Hawaiian aesthetic - Galar would follow, and so would Paldea, by making most if not all the Pokémon in the dex fit the real life inspiration. There's a very good and charming Pokémon game here at its core. It's just a shame the game doesn't allow you to play it. Too many cutscenes, too many interruptions, too many tutorials, routes are too short and linear, gay faggot Z move animations continuously babifying the franchise and removing the edge it had originally. I can understand why this game has fans but it feels like the fans spend more time jerking off to the fanart than actually playing the game.
