It's funny to see people ITT pretend Gamefreak is anything short of the worst developers in the industry, especially when you consider the sheer amount of money TCPI produces. Just about every single shitty business practice you can think of was put in LGPE, there's no defending GF at this point. When compared to other studios that develop Nintendo games GF is like the retarded stepchild. If Gamefreak doesn't want to "prioritize" Pokemon the IP should go to a dev studio that actually handles Pokemon with the amount of respect it deserves.
The first choice for getting Pokemon would be Monolith Soft since they can handle giant worlds and tons of monsters, smaller third party studios like NIS could work on spinoff titles as well. The best solution would be for Pokemon to just be absorbed into Nintendo, becoming fully first party, and be developed by big name, competent directors instead of le wacky "Haha, I don't know" man.
If you read the original dev blogs for Pokemon R/B/G, Gamefreak spent fucking forever on the game which was riddled with bugs, it's by sheer dumb luck that Pokemon is as big as it is today, this article really makes me hope GF sells the IP off to Nintendo sometime in the future so Pokemon can actually be on par with Mario and Zelda in terms of quality. Imagine a Pokemon game unironically being in the running for one of the best games of the year instead of just selling 20M because of the brand name while being a C tier JRPG at best.
