>>34779285Look at all those pros! You sure Lando-T is not broken?
Yep. Let’s check first how smogonites define broken and uncompetitive:
>A) Broken: elements that dictate / require usage, to the point using or not using these effectively causes a drastic disadvantage either to yourself or the opponent, effectively limiting team building. Checks to broken elements are super specific, gimmicky, and matchup reliant, to the point they’re outclassed or mediocre in any other scenario.>Example: Baton Pass VS Match-up reliant Haze users, Pheromosa VS Super effective priority, Naganadel VS AV Tyranitar/Heatran or Ditto, etc.>B) Uncompetitive: elements that reduce the effect of player choice / interaction on the end result to an extreme degree, such that "more skillful play" is rendered irrelevant. These can be either match-up related, external factors or it can redirecting priorities to skilless factors like RNG. While these elements are inherently a part of Pokemon's battle system (think Lava Plume/Scald), the truly overwhelming ones usually force usage of specific and niche counters to archieve consistent victories.>Example: Prankster + Swagger VS Numel/Musharna, Endless Battle Clause (Funbro) VS Non-passive mons, Moody VS sure-hit/Z-Moves, etc.Now let’s examine Landorus-T; on one hand, his status as a jack of all trades lets him take whatever role you wanna give it, essentially making it unpredictable( on paper) and helluva common. On the other hand, usage stats show that 6 out of 10 Lando-Ts are defensive (aka the opposite of unpredictable), and while he has a super workable 89/90/80 bulk, his speed is pretty average for Gen 7 standards, provides little to none specially defensive support and it relies on its items to be effective, either to hurt physical attackers or to have some recovery. Not to mention, his only 2 weaknesess are super good and common offensive moves.
