It has everything to do with people look at that and thinking pokemon was gonna be in any way shape or form a game that is graphically superior to previous games. Especially and I do mean this. Especially in the animation department of movesets in a game nearing 1000 different pokemon.
People did believe this and when questioned they would lash out like they do now when it comes to the dex cut. Since being on the switch was meant everything was gonna be fixed and improved to ridiculous levels no one could have imagined.
Now that those hopes and dreams are shattered well they hurt their own movement by being that delusional to begin with.
