>>50027524Haven't played PLA so I can't speak on its quality
aside from 1 thing It should be obvious that mainline Pokemon games take a lot of influences from traditional JRPGs, and despite any shift in formula, I would like those influences to stay.
Things like:
>stat system and stat based progression>overworld puzzles>turn based combatThe unique things that Pokemon does best, I believe, is player choice in building a party, and exploration. This is why the dexcut and the hallway sims of newer games has stung so much, they actively hurt these major strengths.
Open world could be a good idea, but often times developers just make empty open fields with collectibles and checklists. The Wild Areas and PLA already suffer from this. I want puzzles and secrets instead of "collect digletts/footprints/catch X number of Pokemon" checklists. I'd like to see shit like the Gen 3 Regi puzzles, strength boulder puzzles, ice sliding/cracking tile puzzles, and others. Pokemon games are never that challenging, but I do want to be expected to at least engage with the game.
I don't really trust the open world model with Game Freak, because they've proven themselves to be shit at optimizing their 3d games. An immersive open world requires scale or detail, something Elden Ring and SMTV do well. If it would help performance, I genuinely wish Game Freak would return to sprites.
TLDR;
>I don't want to be handheld>I want to explore at my own pace>I want to be expected to use a braincell or two>I want real puzzles and secrets to find instead of checklists and instant gratification>I don't want the game to run like shit on modern hardware>I want every Pokemon to be playable in every game. Nobodies bros should be left behind by force
