Even though Colosseum is rated fairly highly for a spinoff, it still has mixed reception. And while XD is an objective improvement in most cases, it scored lower than colosseum by 10 whole points
Legends Arceus managed to get the highest score out of all the Pokemon Switch games as it's the most "original". The "original" concepts seem to get the most positive reception. Sword and Shield probably scored lower than average for mainline entries because to them it probably felt more like something achievable on the 3DS.
Scarlet and Violet will most likely end up with an 87 Metacritic score due to the open world maymay, which is "original" for Pokemon.
