>>58779605>What the fuck did they mean by this? We've been over this many times. The show writers who were shippers at all were split between those shipping May with Drew (as was clearly the intended executive directive) and those shipping her with Ash (who probably just thought they were naturally cute together), so it all depends on the episode. Most of the shipteasing for Advanceshipping is frontloaded in the very first few episodes, with it decreasing after Drew is introduced, but with the occasional Advanceshipping moment still appearing deep into AG at random (and popping up in the Deoxys and Lucario movies, though I can't recall if there was any in the Jirachi one). Seemingly to compensate the Advanceshippers on the writing staff as the series was ending and May was going to follow Drew to Johto, the director or whoever in charge handed the final movie to them and let them turn it into a total fanservice movie for Advanceshippers (to get it out of their systems before having to switch to writing Dawn), hence stuff like that Luvdisc scene and of course the capsule scene. This is why a disproportionate amount of Advanceshipping art that continues to be made even to this day often includes Manaphy (that is, when it's not imagining a hypothetical May return either in XY or JN). The Advanceshippers got to eat some more good stuff during the Wallace Cup arc in DP, as mentioned before, but ultimately, the rose decoration on Glaceon in her silent JN cameo indicates that Contestshipping is May's definitive endgame.
