>>53707879>>53708231Except that for Ice to work as the “glass cannon” type, it needs absurdly high offenses, needs to be faster than average electric type, and secondary STAB that can get past Steel types.
Kyurem-B/W had 170 Atk/SpA
Calyrex-I has 165 Atk with a 130 BP STAB move with no drawbacks
Garm having GT has an effective 235 Atk stat.
Chien-Pao has effectively 177 Atk and 135 Spe
Arceus-Ice has Arceus stats (but tbf could honestly be OU or at least in NatDex)
Iron Bundle is the only banned Ice type without an absurdly high attacking stat (still pretty high for its STAB coverage), but only when it’s Quark Drive is boosting Spe instead. After Quark Drive, its speed is equal to Base 229, and if you decide to go Modest it has effective base 176 SpA.
A more accurate statement is
>Ice types suddenly started getting good when they also started getting stat spreads that rival AG Pokemon (and yet somehow aren’t close to being AG themselves)
