Just think about how much content of MPM actually paid off in the last ep. Earlier the weeks, someone supported a theory that MPM was a scrapped finale for Ash from OS or Johto, and seeing how minor adjustments are boiling down to just mons, I support that schizotheory. It makes sense considering how you could fucking skip AG to JN and still not missing any important parts of the picture of Ash's dream. Would also explain how aside from minor dialogue changes have the OS vibe because they just relayed on old ideas from Shudo-era without his dark visionier

It really felt like they originally planned to turn Togepi into a battle in Johto but abandoned the idea. I get the feeling the Togetic plot from AG was delayed from what was planned for Johto back in the day

I thought dub Serena was okay, it's really Natochenny's Ash and the TPCi Team Rocket TRio that irked me in the XY dub because I just don't think despite voicing them longer they were as good as Taylor, Stuart, Blaustein, or Lillis in the roles, and XY is when Ed Goldfarb took over as dub composer from John Loeffler and TPCi replaced more OST than 4Kids did by that point (people give 4Kids a hard time during AG, but they kept more of the Japanese soundtrack there than TPCi did in XY, SM or JN-- and TPCi only kept the same amount of music as them in AG in BF & the last BW dub season).

The dub has been **terrible** (I don't even think it's just the voice direction, it has a LOT of problems, Goldfarb is the common one stated but he's just one part of what makes it unwatchable for me these days) for longer than it was watchable by this point, the earlier stuff has some genuine good points and I think it was watchable all through OS and even though waning in OST changes and some edits, AG's first 3/4 is bearable (the AG Movies redeem the 4Kids Era through the later portion, much better than their first several outings)-- after that, though, the dub lost me.

The post 4kids OST choices are questionable, yeah. I can't defend that but the voice acting more than makes up for it, especially with characters like Paul and Serena.

Hating on the 4kids names is just cringe and low T. Nobody would be able to remember all the complicated names like "Fushigidane", "Takeshi", "Kasumi", "Hikari" etc. And the ashnime would have flopped in the USA. Keep in mind that the purpose of the ashnime is to sell merchanduse worldwide, not to teach kids about Japanese names (especially when a lot of them are nonsense fantasy world words)

Ash in XY is in general more laid back in the English dub so it makes sense that the cross torture is more relaxed than in the JP version.
That SM episode was offensive and deserved to be bamned, as well as the James-boobs episode and the gun episode.
Pokemon Heroes was edited because. Um. Well I guess Miramax didn't want kids to be overwhelmed by all that kythology stuff to avoid accusations of sect indoctrination (consider the Porygon controversy at the time).
It all comes together.

In Steven's original AG appearance he was voiced by Rintaro Nishi, who gave him a deep and gruff voice that didn't match the later portrayal of him as a sexy bishonen all the female viewers want to fuck. His design in that episode was also much more of generic not-particularly-sexy dude.

The recast made a lot of sense, his original voice would not at all have fit his new design and portrayal, and I'm fairly sure most westerners that act like this is some big gotcha have never ever actually HEARD Nishi's Steven and realized how completely different he is from Suzumura's. It was a massive miscast done by people that had no clue how TPC were actually going to market the character.

Yeah, I agree that Iris was the better choice regardless, but his seiyuu being dead probably prevented them from even having him come back for a filler ep or something.

It would be an unkillable god. There would be no way to safely switch in on it. the only hope is to outspeed and kill, and even then you're basically sacking one of your team members minimum just to deal with it.

I feel like it would be an insta pick on any team, but I don't know if it would be sent to AG. Though it pretty much shits on anything slower than it, while also making switching impossible, it still has losing matchups against a lot of notable threats running around in ubers.

Still in Ubers. Its type changes can be predicted and played to and it has to use judgement for STAB.

Now if the plate changed Normal type moves to its current type like the -ate abilities do then straight to AG due to ExtremeSpeed.

Huh, that's exactly what happened for pretry much everyone. I did watch the first episode of AG but didn't really keep up. By that point I was already out of my Pokémon phase. I returned in DP mainly because of the games
