>>58330281Turning off the animations doesn’t make the game and turns faster or cut the retarded delays when mashing the A button to advance dialogue you already know. I actually like seeing the attack animations, especially the custom ones designed for attacks from later gens.
I put 500+ hours into Emerald Rogue doing all kinds of challenges and experimenting with funny scenarios because it was easy to replay and get straight to the actual game parts: catching, teambuilding, battling. Before that game I actually played romhacks like Unbound, Vega and Clover also on 3ds. But there would always come a point where I'd just end up dumping saves on PC, and use mGBA fast-forward for grinding EVs or quickly get through slop wild battle encounters. Never had to do that once with emerald rogue nor did the thought ever come to mind.
>just mindlessly bloat and homogenize every single work with QoL to appease ADHD addled kiddies who need to consume each and every release that pops upOther RPGs let you speed up animations without breaking music or gameplay. Emulator fast-forward is SOULLESS but a necessary evil for me when I want to do challenge runs, experiment with shit and actually engage with the game. Unbound (insane mode), Elite Redux and probably more games have partially solved the grind issue with EV/IV customization at all times, but didn't tackle the UI slowness problem. Having built-in but optional and customizable settings to speedup dialogue and animations should become more popularized. I'd understand if it was Gamefreak not wanting this because they are retarded, but I don't see a reason for devs or players to be against this.
I sent my initial post because I actually tried to play Odyssey and Crystal Clear on 3ds but dropped them due to the atrocious pacing in battles. It adds up quickly. I could just run them on an emulator and use speedup, but I'd miss out on the music. The slowness serves no one.
