Ash was like Hanamichi (Slam Dunk) and Bocchi ( Bocchi The Rock ). A protagonist who has talent but it has to work three time harder than other characters to reach their goal. Unlike Gary Stu Like Alain who gets everything handed to them for being writer's favourite.

They still gonna blame Ash and the audience because they believe that they can't do anything wrong. Since they always consider themselves right all the time so they just blame the audience.

Take Iris as example who was hated for her poor characterization and Mary Sue treatment. But the writing staff came to the conclusion that Iris was only hated because the audience doesn't like any girl that bicker with Ash so they turn every girl after Iris to be super nice toward Ash. Even though there were three lead girl that bickered with Ash before Iris who were well accepted by audience, the writing staff doesn't care because if Iris is hated for bickering with Ash then every girl that bicker with Ash will be hated. There was nothing wrong with their poor writing, its audience fault for not liking girls that bicker with Ash. That is their logic.

Remember that Alain caused one of biggest backlash yet the writing staff never stopped pandering edgelords like him because they still refuse to admit there is anything wrong with Alain because he is their self insert so admitting that Alain was wrong is same as admitting that they were wrong.
