BW is a giant win for the games, the amount of circumstances and decisions regarding the progression in the anime after DP is a separate can of worms.
XY for the shit it gets presented a really strong overhaul and improvement of the villain team with the setup of Alain's involvement from the MES to make proper stakes.
SM was definitely improved in the anime, which was also being helped with by no ass long introductions.
Gen 8 was weak but the games atleast kept the buildup for their climax. JN rushed the whole box legendary arc.
