Why not just start the Masters 8 later? But even so, they still have not sunk to the depths of BW's stupidity.
Even ignoring the much-memed stupidity of Ash losing to a guy who only brought 5 Pokemon to a full battle, it almost felt like the writers trying to make the show bad on purpose. Just a reminder of the dumb things that happened in the Vertress Conference:
>Ash battles his main rival in the very first round, where Pikachu gets manhandled for 80% of the fight then basically one shots Serperior with something that isn't all that creative (combine two attacks into one)>Cameron vs Bianca gives us a preview to Cameron vs Ash by showing us that Cameron can somehow bullshit his way through a problem (Iron Defense Escavalier) then relying on Riolu to hard carry him the rest of the way>Cameron's bullshit Hydreigon that has power beyond some of the most ridiculous equivalent Pokemon we've seen on the show like Paul Ursaring>Cameron and Ash both being total dipshits afterwards in several matchups, Cameron sending out a Ferrothorn against Pignite, Ash not swapping when Samurott comes out, then Cameron sending out fucking Swanna against Pikachu>Riolu/Lucario hax>The pointless existence of Virgil in general
