Messy. It was already a mess because of Ash's reset, Iris' character and the earthquake fucking over the Team Plasma arc, but the sequels made some things even harder to believe:
>BW1 Bianca and BW2 Cheren
>Roxie took Drayden's spot as the eighth gym leader when she could've just been a COTD like Cheren and Marlon
>Zekrom never made a full appearance in the anime
>N and Team Plasma were already enemies when they debuted, but the former still kept some of his retarded "all trainers are evul" ideals.

Alain had two years on the show with at least one win over Ash previously. And eventually admitted that Ash was his [moral] superior despite losing the gold. The actual message of that fight is that Ash could lose with a straight face, move on with his life and continue to keep his head up. As was the case in Gen 5, where he cheers for Cameron to succeed despite losing to him.

When you think about it, it was a 6 vs 4. Cameron's lead Hydreigon might as well count for two pokemon, and Ash's team was such a joke that two of them might as well not count. Boldore and Oshawott went down easily, and Cameron's Riolu evolved in the fight too. Ash was just never going to win.

It might not count in the same way as everything else, but I really loved the addition of Cameron the Photographer in HGSS, being able to document your team/journey across the game is such a nice little addition I never see mentioned.
Other than that, I think Battle Royales and Pokestar were both pretty great little side modes that people are put off by bad tutorials, secret bases and the sinnoh underground are cool and I did also find myself using Mantine Surf more than I expected too.

The animation is also lightyears better. You can't compare 2001-2002 animation to 2011-2013 animation. Sometimes I think people forget how "dated' the old animation during Johto was. Johto had worse animation than Kanto too for that matter, as the hand drawn art didn't look as good.

I'm not, I actually believe 100% that Alain's Charizard would sweep XY Ash's team with just thunder punch because of how majorly unbalanced XY Ash's shit team is. Saying XY Ash almost won is just like saying Ash almost beat Cameron, XY Ash has zero achievements and is the weakest Ash by far.

while i agree with scrapping cameron, i dont think they should scrap trip, in my honest opinion, i think he was an okay rival, look at the DP anime, we had paul who was included since the beginning.

While the earthquake was a big factor to why the 2 episode got cancelled, i dont think it was the only one, as because it was aired at the same time as where they were some really huge terrorist problem in the world, especially on the middle east and to see the team plasma, basically doing terrorist attacks really feel like it was another factor to the ban. Even if it was still aired in japan, I dont think the TPCi would dub the 2 episode for that reason.

Even tho i dislike Iris, you would still lose personality that makes Iris the Iris from the anime. Using the same personality formula they had with the 4 former girls would probably be boring for them

If you were paying any attention to the Mega Evolution Acts, you'd know that Alain had no interest in Gyms. This guy was already throwing hands with the Elite 4, and basically had nothing to gain from competing in little league. The only reason why he shows up is because Ash invited him to stop by, and maybe have a good time. Cut loose, have some fun. Their relationship was 100% casual. This isn't like Gary or Paul, who had years of buildup, tension, and destroying Ash's self esteem. Ash has nothing to prove in this match. And Alain wasn't really invested in the crown. This was just another excuse to boot Ash out of the tournament.

I think the greatest failure of XY is trying to turn Ash into this cool, shounen protagonist. He's surrounded by people who like him. He has a special shounen frog. He makes Champion break a sweat during battle. They even gave him his very own waifu. What could possibly go wrong?!? They did such an excellent job of making fans believe that Ash was cool kid on the block, that they could barely process the possibility that he could fail...Even though thing like Tobias or Cameron happened prior, and made way less sense than the Kalos League.

That whole tournament felt like a lame attempt at trying to make Trip look like a credible threat to Ash, after he was already humilliated and buried by Cilan and Bianca prior. Seriously, he just conveniently ripped through everything with Serperior like Red with Charizard in Origins, and most fights are extremely unremarkable.

The only reason why he's not the worst rival is because Cameron exists and he took all that bad shit about Trip to the extreme.

It's really weird how the English dubs will even dub the voices of Pokémon that have the same names in both languages. It's pure greed. And thinking that they can dub the show "better" than the original version. Not really if those character actually has legimate reason to win. Alain wins on the otherhand always depended on the plot armor that Cameron had against Ash.

You know you can say that about literally any time someone wins since you know, they're all a part of a plot and this is fiction. I wouldn't say cameron is a better trainer than Paul because Cameron threw out a 4x weak pokemon in on pikachu and also because paul has a hard counter to 4/6 of cameron's league team and a soft counter to 6/6.

This also isn't true as Alain has almost exclusively used blast burn as a finishing move, and when it failed against greninja greninja put Charizards head to the ground. But let me guess, you're so young and naive that the fact that they didn't break the pacing to cut to clemont saying "whoa greninja exploited blast burns draw back!" you didn't pick up on it.
