>>55263447>barely trainsThey train more often than the last anime. It's implied here frequently, we see the kids and Friede pre/post training every so often, which has never happened before. Liko is even shown doing research on matters relevant to her pokemon, a massive step up from before.
>ridiculous plot armor when dealing with ancient PokémonG-Moltres had a lot of that, which was very annoying, but the others didn't. Arboliva was pretty straightforward, and Lapras wasn't actually trying to kill. Hopefully Entei or Kleavor aren't pacified by a mere whiff of weed.
>horrible movesetsAccording to Smogon standards under video game constraints maybe. But Leafage is a ranged attack that can be modulated to fit several niches, and Quick Attack has plenty utility. Fuecoco has Flamethrower and Stomping tantrum, there's decent coverage there and plenty range.
Non-game worlds just run on different logic. Although it's a shame it's not more nuanced, nuance has literally only been a thing once in the anime's entire lifetime, and it was with a literal side character, Conway. I doubt we'll ever get anything as in-depth as Conway ever again, at least in the mainline anime.
>too polite and christlike to be funnyYeah, the pokemon anime hasn't been funny since the first series, and it's a damned shame it's still that way. I wish cartoons in general weren't so fucking sterilized, but there's too many sensitive pissbabies who will try to get a show cancelled for making fun of fatness or whatever.
>no rivalriesNot true. Friede has a rival! Woooo! The mentor bodyguard cucking the real protagonists once again!
>never put in situations where failure actually mattersI'm not sure what you mean. Aren't they? If Liko lost her pendant ever, etc, it could matter. Or did you mean that the writers will never let an impactful fail-state occur in the first place? That's sadly a given no matter what
>I'm not getting much mileage out of SprigatitoAgreed. There was potential, but it's unused
