Probably because of how controversial it was. It had barely any training but still managed to steam roll entire teams with 0 strategy despite not even having the raw power of its evolved forms yet. The writers probably had no idea what to do with it that wouldn't completely overpower Pikachu's role so they just pretended their mistake never happened.

You mean the one battle where it got a win? Pretty sure it's only been in 2 official battles. One where it showed promise and one where it got steamrolled by darkrai. But Tobias did mention its potential. So why was it a mistake? Gible deserved more.

What did Gible do to warrant rolling over Conway like that? Or to warrant Tobias claiming it was one of Ash's most powerful pokemon, even more powerful than the reserves he brought in or Pikachu? Nothing.
The writers fucked up so I bet they wanted to pretend it never happened. Especially since Cynthia's Shillchomp filled the role already.

You mean the multiple episodes either dedicated to or incouding Gible's training? The piplup gag didn't exist for no reason, Gible got more development ine like 20 episodes then most of BWs team got.

He never said thst. He said that Gibles Draco Meteor showed great power.

This is called development, anon. Gible started off as a energetic Pokemon that couldn't control its impulses, then became a somewhat strong addition, Draco Meteor was the method this was shown. My problem is that it feels incomplete. And Tobias teasing the power it could have just makes it worse in terms of wasted potential.

Every single trainer gets training in, especially Conway who is all about drilling strategies into his pokemon using complicated moves. Gible needed actual battle experience and an evolution to justify using raw power to overcome Conway and set himself as a top threat to Tobias.

As a Gible who has only won one fight in its life. That's a problem.

Imagine if Liko catches a Frigibax. It fights only a couple times in the entire anime, so all it's had is a bit of move training. Liko then participates in the Paldean League. Her Frigibax defeats all of Kieran's pokemon alone, somehow overpowering both Kieran's powerful pokemon and his strategies without using a strategy itself. Then against Nemona it demonstrates more power than any of the other pokemon Liko's brought with her, outshining even the ancient pokemon Liko brought in.

Why? Conway is more brains than brawn. Ash simply needed to outsmart him, not outpower him. Gible was used in that way, using an immune move like Bite against shadow punch is genius after all. Anyway, dragons have always been portrayed as more powerful than other mons, even in younger forms.

JN is filled with Ash catching already champion-tier Pokemon. Gible isn't anywhere near that.

The problem with Gible was not that it was a lot of latent potential. The problem is that it didn't have the screentime and episodes to show off its latent potential, the trouble it had controlling it, and it growing up to the point it obtained the skill needed to use its latent potential to the max rather than just unga bunga.
They always fuck-up with the screentime of one Pokemon of the team, and Gible was the one who suffered the most on Sinnoh from this.
Gible was NEVER controversial because it was strong, if anything, people wanted it to get more screentime because the idea of Ash's Garchomp vs Cynthia's Garchomp made everyone cream their pants back then.
Honestly, they should've just skipped Gligar and added Gible instead.

That's Conway's biggest strength and also biggest weakness. A single speck of dust gets into his carefully oiled gears and he's done for.
Anyone who can think outside the box by one milometer wrecks Conway because he's got zero adaptability.
Gible's being strong had nothing to do with it defeating Conway.

Her sassing foreign amourshippers after they attacked her on twitter for the dancing episode was pretty cool. Other than that, she's good at character episodes, and I think her talents were better served under Matsui for SM than Tomioka.

I can't think of any episode in particular of hers that I disliked.

Not much of a Serena fan, but "The First Day of the Rest of Your Life" is one of the best episodes in anipoke history. It was a perfect culmination of her arc.

Fun Shudo fact: As far as I know, Omode is the only screenwriter from Pokemon that Shudo directly mentions in his animestyle column (he references Junki Takegami a few times, but you have to put two and two together). By happenstance she got an interview with Shudo to write for the second Minky Momo anime. Shudo was initially skeptical because she was a trained scriptwriter and he hated professionals because he felt they were unoriginal. She was also working on Sazae-san, which Shudo respected for the work it took, but also hated because he hated Sazae-san. He changed his mind and hired her when she said what she really wanted to do was write mecha anime. She would later go on to co-write a Gundam Wing novel with Yoshiyuki Tomino.

But even this is wrong. Dusknoir is faster than Gible thanks to Trick Room, how did it outspeed the Shadow Punch? The writers broke the rules they had just set up.

It's more like Ash smuggled a Thermobaric Missile into the arena and chucked it at Conway. And where did Ash get this missile? He spent a couple episodes banging rocks together and it turned into a weapon of war capable of extinguishing any life.

That was one way to do a reversal. Went with the expectations of just more bonding between the two and maybe more insight on the Weedcat. A lot of /padt/ was only interested in Ash and the girls that they thought he liked. Even in the most generous interpretation, the Ashnime had decades of lore that people could hope would pop back up one day, and the next season could always be the one that restores the anime to the glory of whatever series the anon grew up with and liked the most. The Pokemon anime's ability to drum up news on social media largely relied on how much they could bait people in with nostalgia from the Indigo League. So Ash winning a League or becoming World Champion were big news items; Serena/Dawn returning drew in rabid fans from the XY/DP days, even if the reach wasn't as large. When Ash left, so did a lot of the anime's ability to rely on nostalgia to pull in lapsed fans. It's becoming more and more apparent that Horizons has no ties to the past aside from the setting, so the people who are holding out hope for Ash/their favorite girl/whoever to come back are disengaging. Horizons has to stand on its own, and it does, but without the decade of fans who liked it for the one season that they did growing up the volume isn't going to be that high.

Also, a lot of people are dub-onlies, and TPCi's inability to get the dub into most English-speaking markets means that the English-speaking side of social media isn't interested.

Probably a lower note episode in terms of delivery but I like that they mixed up the perception of the Weedcats initial attitude from the 1st episode on his supposedly uncooperative attitude. That kind of narrative writing is something I wasn't expecting but welcome it for the coherency. And it learning Magical Leaf being a follow up to Roy's and Dot's new moves and mon is OK for what it is.

Looks like next time is gonna be a Dot loaded episode with the mother being seemingly one of the most jolly person on earth and more opportunities for Quaxly to get rid of his reputation of becoming a faggot dancing duck. But that's 2 weeks away and I am split on whether to skip out on the threads to save my nerves from the F ags clockwise shitflinging or continuing my readthrough of Pokespe because talking about the current episodes will be drowned out by the aforementioned cancer.

It's dying because Horizons isn't a Pokemon anime. It's a shoujo adventure plot that has pokemon here and there.
Say what you want about the trAsh anime at least it captured the essence of pokemon, being a trainer, catching pokemon, and using them for battle.
If you replaced the pokemon with magic Horizons would barely change.
That's not to say that the plot is bad, it's just not pokemon.

Journeys for example was pretty infamous for this in it's early years where Ash caught Dragonite and Gengar and the two were barely used until Masters 8 came along.

Then there was Dracovish who was barely seen for months after it was captured, Made people think it wasn't actually in the roster for battles.

Honestly they way modern writers use these Pokemon is one of my main fears for the Dolphin if Roy actually does catch it. Will it become a Kaiden 2.0 but worse? Like some have said it has it's Hero mode but it's strictly a Pokemon suited for water so we might barely see it.
