Actually the only challenging fights in SM imo were Lurantis, Mimikyu and the final Lusamine fight, though that last one is more tedious than hard due to the bulk and some of her Pokémon having self healing.

BW2 has Cheren (unless you get a Riolu or evolve Tepig but I couldn't find a Riolu last time and I picked Snivy), Elesa, Clay, Marlon, Ghetsis and Iris. Also a few difficult generics and one of the hardest Victory Roads (in terms of being a long gauntlet of trainers, the only healer is close to the end.)

Iris is equally shown to have pretty feet thanks to her Champion dress, along with her being a wild girl in general, she might have a nice foot grip from climbing all those trees.

Well after DP, they removed the reason for girls to be traveling with Ash minus being his backpack. Misty got away with it because she was the first we were exposed to so nostalgia helps. Also
Iris - To many people got turned off at the "such a kid" line. I found her fine personally other than the no real reason to be traveling. I think she just made people feel self concious about liking something childish
Serena - only exists for waifufag tourists. Whole XY series felt like a budget shonen with a Pokemon skin rather than a Pokemon anime. Musicals were just budget contests with the best part removed. No real personality beyond wanting to fuck Ash
Lillie/Mallow/Lana - I see people who watched SM typically enjoy them. The artstyle shift and it being more of a SoL anime with some battling rather than a battle anime with some SoL elements scared people off. Biggest issue I've seen people have is Lillie's fear of Pokemon being due to Lusamine evolving her Clefairy
Koharu - she barely existed as they were more interested in having homoerotic adventures with Goh

The worse part is, for almost every gen they had good enough character to make new protags. May was a great one in g3, Dawn in g4, Iris in g5, etc.

No, what was debunked was that they did literally nothing, the only fight where they do nothing is the Iris fight because she already has 31 IVs mons or something like that. Nah, from what I know none of his stuff as yuri, but it has a very convoluted plot that the girl is stuck into and usually includes 3 or 4 more characters.

In the Cynthia one theres a whole mystery of finding out who caused a black out in Olivine City. The game introduces at least 3 other side characters along with Cynthia and Jasmine, who is also here.

Don't get me wrong, I love my footgirl Jasmine (which in all honesty, is who I played the game for and not Cynthia), but I feel like the game didnt need all of these other characters, as there not as fleshed out as the main 2, and even then, id rather the game focuse on one girl at a time, either fully Cynthia VN or Jasmine VN.

If you like stories though, its actually not bad. despite my opinion, I still had fun with the game. I played the Dawn VN first, which focuses solely on Dawn, so that pretty much set my expectations for every other fan VN.

Heres hoping that Iris VN one hes making turns out really nice and we get a lot more Iris focused moments.
