>>55751848Not that guy but Roy isn't even a stand in for the USA Afroamerican fans the way I see it, Iris fits that definition way more in terms of lore stuff (actually Unovan, living in multi racial society, smarter than lets on outside but prefers to play out the whole chaotic emotion social image). I actually always liked Iris but I always felt disappointed in how OLM underdeveloped her ambitions, she should have had an arc where she'd be inspired by Ash to become a professional Pokemon Master league challenger and also Ash should have taught her diligence or something because she was way too spontaneous IMO
So that her reappearance would be way more impactful.
Kinda offtopic but whenever people start discussing Afroamericans they always make some weird parallels about actual Africans when by this point USA Afroamericans are more culturally (and to a slight extent, even genetically) European more than anything in terms of culture. It's like people collectively forget that they have been living for ~300 years in an English speaking society with the whole Western value+customs stuff.
