And they were clearly too scared to use anyone from actual Kalos because they had no clue if the characters would show up or not. This game it's probably like Pokémon Adventures where the author has to actually sit down and play the games at release before writing anything about them.
Basically the only way I would know if DeNA actually has any insider knowledge or not is if Iono has team up dialogue with Canari. Iono had her alts earlier in the year. It's basically impossible for her to have voice lines about Canari unless the voice actress is brought in again some time between now post Z-A release and when they release Canari.
