Yeah, citing western Facebook boomers is probably irrelevant. The writers aren’t thinking about them concerning MPM. The Kanto stuff is there because it is more family friendly than later series. There are a ton of people who are now parents who watched the OS as kids. Now they can watch it with their own kids and enjoy the ride.

TBQH I am surprised there is any debate, it's pretty obvious they wanted you to ship Ash and Misty in OS, and Ash and Serena in XY. Time will tell if MPM follows suit.

I don't know how people can debate that any of these were intended to be neutral interactions

Let it be known that this filename is the reason people still bring me up, despite not doing anything in awhile. And I was only trying to make the threads better by having people include OS/AG/DP/BW/XY/XYZ/SM/PM/MPM. I promise there's nothing wrong about talking about any past anime and just because "they're over" doesn't mean you can't talk about them. There's also all the times I tried to defend Serena/Amour from people who have been annoying to people who like them, which nowadays people obsessively bring me up whenever someone brings up Serena/Amour.

I wish the PWC would've been handled more like the BF arc in AG. Ash would sometimes battle using a mix of his Hoenn Pokemon and reserves. Kinda made up for reserves getting the shaft in the Hoenn League. What we're getting right now in MPM, imo, doesn't make up for reserves getting sidelined completely in the PWC. Ideas like yours anon would've been great, with Ash's reserves not only getting a chance to show off their abilities and power one last time, but also give them some last-minute development.

It especially hurts since MPM isn't giving us any sort of epic, final challenge for Ash to undertake where the reserves get a chance to shine in battle one last time. Another wasted opportunity, imo.

I still think the Ash and Misty teasing in MPM is more about channeling the original dynamic they had back in the Indigo and Orange Islands episodes than building toward some sort of reveal, big or small, that's shipping related. I see it as one last trip down memory lane before the last chapter of Ash's story comes to an end. We'll see, though.

Pokemon doesn't have a great track record for dramatic storytelling, it's' best drama episodes are all bunched up in Gen 1. I don't know if I'm nostalgiafagging by saying that but I mean it. They exist in later gens but are sporadic at best.
MPM proved it could do chemistry perfectly well for the characters but I feel like there's an expiration date.

Imagine if we got 5 straight episodes of Ash and Misty teasing. It would only be irritating if it never went anywhere
Sorry about the venting, but a common criticism of MPM is that its not even trying these things and I think if it did try these things it would screw them up

Uh, maybe because of Pokemania but that doesn't mean they are attached to those character since they are kinda dated?. The Mystery Gang is very different. One of the reasons why Scooby Doo is still alive unlike other HB cartoons is because of the group, it just works and and the worst entries are when you remove one of the five. Meanwhile it was obviously the OG trio wasn't working anymore during Johto and does nothing for me now with MPM. I would say TRio is more similar to the Mystery Gang
