I find myself unable to hate the Simpsons for the same reason. The writing is ass and the characters are so flanderized I'd rather watch Family Guy, but it's hard to hate them when I know in the hands of an actually competent team I would go back to adoring them.
In Ash's case, we all know how he should be (OS, maybe a bit more mature over time but without completely losing his edge and snark), but because of the team he's at the mercy of, he's forced into becoming little more than a corporate mouthpiece, shilling for TCPi until his contract runs out and he gets replaced with that new girl.
I don't doubt it'll be the same for her if they use her for a couple years. Whatever personality she has will be eroded, shaven and filed down until she's little more than a marketing tool for Gen 14.
