The ratings declined because the show was doing the same thing over again. They change the cast, Pokemon etc. But the shows were structured similarly to OS and used a lot of the same story beats. SM and PM tried to be more original, but the horse has already left the barn.

Imagine the reaction if the Paldea region's introduction is similar to Galar's in episode 4 of PM19, when Goh discovers it on his phone, asks Professor Cerise about it, and he decides to send Ash/Goh there to investigate the terrastalize phenomenon. They go and check it out for two episodes, come back, and then only occasionally visit Paldea from time to time.

Unless the SV anime is full blown reboot in a completely different continuity and it is set only in Paldea I'm not bothering with it at all even if you pointed a gun to my head and told me to watch it.
I'm sick and done and tired of it all after the total fuckawful mess PM was/is.
PM should have been THE peak of the anime and it was nothing but wasted potential, monkey paw curling, and a total production mess.
