>>54700865Goh only got his first legendary because he earned its trust, and it wanted to be his Pokemon. Goh didn't battle it, and it's unlikely Goh had the skills or Pokemon necessary to weaken Suicune enough to capture it.
As for his catching abilities, PoGo redefined how some things work in the anime universe, so to me, that explains why he's so good at catching Pokemon.
I would also argue Goh had somewhat of an unfair advantage getting into PM, and that he quite possibly wouldn't have made it in without Ash. Sure other PM competitors could have had help too, but Goh had Ash; the Alola and OI champion, and conqueror of the BF. I doubt any other trainer aiming to get into PM had someone with that skill level helping them... not to mention the emotional support, which was most evident in the episode Goh goes after a Kingdra.
I do think Goh's growth as a trainer could've been handled better, with us seeing him develop his skills more along the way, and that's one of the many things JN dropped the pokeball on, but I also don't think he's as OP as some claim.
