>>53886488I don't think we even got halfway there, or hell, a third of the way there. Fuck man, with all that could've been done with Goh's character, his goal, and by extension the world tour format that opened the door to catching Pokemon from anywhere, we barely got past the starting line. This was the best premise for a new saga in the Pokemon anime hands down, and the ones it charged royally botched it.
As overdone as it sounds, at some point we needed a Goh depression arc where after failing several PM missions in a role and falling further and further behind, he is forced to confront feelings of inadequacy and failure, which could have also been used to further develop his childhood backstory. It could've led to episodes where he trains his Pokemon and pushes himself to get stronger and strengthen his bond with them. I loved seeing him catch a wide-variety of Pokemon, but I wanted even more to see him do shit with them, including having a rotating team for PM missions. PM19 should've revitalized the anime. but everything about it was so badly botched it's no wonder it became the final nail in the coffin for Ash, which resulted in Goh and Chloe getting discarded as well, which is a shame because had things been handled competently, all three characters could've easily continued on in the anime.
