I think he became friends with Ash a bit too quickly given his history of being hurt by others (which needed to be explored beyond his misunderstanding with Tokio). I feel the Raboot storyline was a missed opportunity for Goh's character, since we didn't get to see him actively try and figure out how he could fix things with Raboot. I'm not happy Goh never outright failed a PM mission, forcing him to rethink his approach and train harder. I'm a Gohfag, but I don't suck his dick 24/7.
I do thoroughly enjoy what he has going on with Ash; the two have such great chemistry. I love the episodes where he gets in touch with his Pokemon's feelings and wants to help them (Drizzile, Flabebe, Pinsir). The Goh/Gary interactions and the lessons Goh learned from him in the PM episodes is really good stuff. And, I just like his personality and how he reacts to things in general.
I want to see him stay because there are plenty of aspects to the character that I like, but I also want to see him stay because I hope that he'll continue to grow and improve as a character, and I want to see that happen.
