Fact of the matter is Diamond/Pearl are bad fucking games which were salvaged with Platinum. Taking those games and giving them some of the worst graphics I've ever seen in a AAA release is not the same thing as taking Mario RPG and making it look so good it's on par with the original pre rendered promotional material.
In the end the problem is that Mario RPG is the original game + some extra content. BDSP are DP with some tougher teams but missing all the new content of Platinum.
If BDSP had the Platinum content and looked even 20% better this argument wouldn't be happening at all. In the end it's an inferior way to experience Sinnoh, but the Mario RPG remake is the definitive way to experience that game.
