>>57517618>>57513461>I would probably have Platinum get humbled more across the arc.I'd have liked more of this too, you have a point about things often going her way. At the same time, DP was meant to be a more light-hearted arc. When Kusaka randomly tried giving the comic relief character Gold some emotional anguish back at the end of GSC, it just came off as retarded. In response, for RS Kusaka wrote Ruby in a way just so the guy would get humbled into the dirt, but as a result the story got super emotional, melodramatic and even
edgy by the end. So it would be a balancing act give Platinum more losses without messing too much with DP's funny tone.
>"commoners can't use my name"If I remember correctly, this was more meant to be some kind of meta humor at the time. In the early DP arc, the fact "Missy"'s real name was actually the third game version to the Diamond/Pearl games was supposed to be some kind of secret. The fact her name was "Platinum" all long was meant to be an epic reveal. Of course now almost 20 years later, even a new reader will know her name is Platinum, even if they didn't spoil themselves online.
>>57513488>keep Diamond the same because it shows him being a good person or the "glue" of the teamI agree with this. In DP Diamond's initially presented as if he's stupid, but throughout DP the twist is that he can be surprisingly smart (often leaving Pearl in disbelief). In a similar way, Dia could initially be implied to be the most useless member of the trio. But over time when conflict affects Pearl and Platinum, you realize Diamond is always the mediator, he is the empathetic heart of the group, and maybe even the most important member of all.
