in-game Gen 2 Typhlosion mogs the fuck out of ingame Gen 1 Charizard.
And in the actual Gen 2 meta Typhlosion was just as good if not better than Charizard (technically you are correct in when talking about Smogon's rules but even there Charizard is niche re there anyway. and much more people are currently playing Nintendo Cup 2000 than they are Smogon Gen 2 OU.
I will give you the copy-paste point but technically Charizard stats were different in Gen 1 then they were Gen 2. it only had 85 special, but got 109 special attack.
