>>55642878Comparing other jrpgs to Pokemon is retarded because of different mechanics.
Any other jrpg throws all your team members (or at least most of them) into a fight and is not obsessed with making fight "fair" by making player's and bosses kits identical. This means that your entire party actively participate in fights.
In Pokemon majority of in-game fights is 1-on-1 with little to no kit advantage for enemies meaning that your fuckers usually spend entire fight on bench doing jack shit. There's no logic behind Pokemon getting exp for doing nothing and actively encourages NOT USING POKEMON because why you should do it when it gets stronger by doing nothing?
It especially makes zero sense now when exp candies are a thing and player can easily pick up any fucker and immediately put them on the same level as rest of the team.
The discussion about "difficulty", "level curve" and other bullcrap is just useless noise. The actual issue is that forced exp share is just counterintuitive "feels wrong" answer to non-issue that encourage player to not engage with the game past the safest route of keeping their weakest Pokemon on bench.
>>55643052Do it better - why using some mechanical, clunky answer like experience candies? Introduce trainer experience - player will be getting exp for battling, exploring etc and then they will be able to move that experience from their pool to Pokemon. It can be easily explained in universe with player becoming better trainer and their expertise as trainer allow them to unlock potential of their Pokemon.
Basically - Pokemon needs major rework of experience system (and like half a dozen of other things) but Pokefags are dumb manchildren not ready for that discussion and instead are okay with half-assed bandaid answers to everything.
