She's not even the worst rival in a Gen 5 title. At least she has an arc, which puts her above like half the rivals in franchise and basically every rival released after her aside from USUM Hau and basically all of them from SV. USUM is a third version that still leaves locations and planned features unfinished (Ultra City, Gym Creation, Battle Cruise).
Rotom Dex is a genuinely awful use of the 2nd screen compared to XY's UI.
Rotom Lottery is just O-Powers on a slot machine. Instead of letting you select from a menu like normal.
Mega Stones costing BP? Instead of exploring the overworld to unlock them.
Z Moves, flop by Ohmori trying to replace Megas.
No 3v3 or Hordes because the game performance is worse overall.
I do like original SM, but Gen 7 is worse designed than XY in alot of ways. Stuff got cancelled and they were desperate to compete with Yokai at the time...

People complained about Kirby's Epic Yarn being easy despite Kirby already being an easy game for babies. It's not about the game being easy in any way, it's about hitting an extremely small threshold to keep interest instead of just turning your brain off. Still, Epic Yarn has a ton of charm to it, something XY has almost zero of, so the trade off wasn't worth it because there's nothing to trade for. This only proved more true almost immediately as ORAS did multiplayer better and SM had things like petting Pokemon and trainer customization but in a game that actually was interesting some of the time. Shame they completely fucked that up in SS giving us all the worst parts of XY with none of the extremely minor benefits.

The one seen in the Deoxys movie doesn't appear to be the same entity as the one in the Mega Evolution specials, but they're DEFINITELY different to the Shiny one that appears in the Hoopa movie. And that's discounting the one-off appearences is makes in series like DP, multiple in SM for some reason and of course the NEW Shiny fug that appears in the new one.

This is one complaint I don't really understand. Who said that ALL of the Powerplant should be explorable by some kid trainer? And why is it important?

Games like SM and SwSh don't even let you explore ANY of their Powerplant equivalents, but somehow this complaint is always about the Kalos powerplant lol

I know the main reason was that they wanted a new Generation for the 20th anniversary, but that's only half of the story imo.

2015 was a gap year, so they could have fitted "Z" version in 2015, and still release SM for the 20th anniversary in 2016.

I think they just didn't have enough new content for a Z version at the time, so that's why they skipped it.

Realistically, what would even have been in Z? The Zygarde cell hunt, and Complete Zygarde? That's not really enough to warrant a new version of the same game.

BW is probably the best first version, but that's kind of a retard fight because it's a game that's just pretty solid in every aspect but doesn't shoot itself in the foot, while basically every other first version does in one way or another. Like BW's only major issues are not liking how most Pokemon look and people finding the story offputting, which are more subjective than most other games and even in the case of the latter isn't even the worst example because SM exists now.
B2W2 are a valiant effort for a third version as far as new and interesting content in every party of the game goes, but between the weaker story with about as much interruption and the slightly jank Battle Frontier equivalence again will probably put people off of it in ways something like Emerald or HGSS wouldn't (or genuinely won't be able to identify it, who would think that Pokestar Studios and Battle Sims are basically the same thing unless you really got into the game design weeds).
Then of course there's Yawnfag who just hates it out of principal, probably because his first game was XY and needs to justify liking it despite it having a largely positive reception for years that he has been actively eroding to the point where people probably hate it more since SS released and he started posting, and would probably put Gen 6 fans as top 3 most annoying just for him alone. Like if he were banned the post quality of the board would increase dramatically, we could actually have threads about video games until another unhinged schizo comes along and posts about insane shit as has unfortunately been the case too often.
