>>58698923Good point about those compounding mysteries. That's actually something different compared to recent arcs.
>And where's Gold? Gold's absence was a big thing among Japanese fans if you lurk enough on old sites.Gold has always been popular as hell, so making him the subject of a mystery is only going to multiply reader investment, because they'd kill themselves if this question never got a payoff. Luckily it did though. Gold's role in the Emerald arc however brief was really good. He showed up and was still his bastard self, but with a surprising new maturity as well which he needed if he was going to interact with the new Hoenn characters who were younger than him.
>What happened to Ruby and Sapphire before returning to the Frontier?Shipping is also something else everyone has always obsessed over, and being Pokespe's first canon romance everyone wanted to know what the hell happened between Ruby and Sapphire. This is also part of why no matter how shitty ORAS was, people are still waiting to see what happens in the ORAS epilogue, it's shipping investment. Even though deep down inside we all know the epilogue will probably have nothing interesting.
But these days with modern arcs, all the mysteries we're supposed to care about don't look compelling at all. Ever since the Sird plotline was dropped completely, disappointing everyone, any further investment and theorycrafting about the plot feels like a giant waste of time. Nobody actually cares about whether Moon is Platinum's sister, because nobody gives a fucking shit about Moon or SM. In fact a lot of people were just pissed off at the vague implication that Platinum might have a retconned sister that was never mentioned prior.
