Even intentionally stiff designs like Necrozma showed so much personality in their animations. How do you go from a pseudo like Kommo-o with so many jangling parts to Baxcalibur who looks like it was made in under a minute in Blender?

I don't know why gamefreak feels the need to include all regional forms of a given mon, anyway. We've had dex cuts AND form cuts before. Why not limit the next gen to only having alolan meowth instead of randomly including the other two? etc. It was... cute, I guess, in sm, when visitors from kanto had their original forms. But that's not required for the concept at all.
It's just more 'tism. Beyond that they could easily pivot to using them for biome-dependency; alolan vulpix in a snow biome outside of alola: "These vulpix are remarkably similar to the forma native to the Alola region." as a dex entry. Done. Easy.

The fact that it’s the same reused ones from DP/BW is what’s extra lame. At least SM/USUM (and SWSH to a lesser extent) bothered to give us some new lore on existing Pokemon, like their predator/prey relationships, or how different cultures viewed them.

They almost referenced Tajiri’s original animal lore for the 20th anniversary. They considered incorporating into SM the lore that Pokemon replaced regular earth animals by coming out of ultra wormholes, and mentioned Indian Elephants as a specific example. Yes, we could have had “all Pokemon are UBs” stated by the game directly.

Fun fact, the only Alola Pokémon with a signature Z-Move with a secondary effect in the original SM was Alolan Raichu. Starters, Tapus and Marshadow all simply do more damage. Meanwhile all Kanto ones aside Catastropika and Pulverizing Pancake had secondary effects.

I truly believe that it was a mistake for HGSS to retcon Giovanni not showing up at the Radio Tower because he had truly given up being a criminal into he always intended to rebuild Team Rocket but was stopped due to time travel. Too bad they scrapped his development from vanilla SM in favor of an alternate reality version who is a multiverse conquering super villain.

Wow, I hate to give SM any points because I fucking loathe those games/gen, but they actually might win this one. XY those characters are forgettable, seriously name one thing about that gym leader you remember besides that he's a rock climber, you can't. Sword/Shield both of them are annoying as fuck characters. Scarlet/Violet nigs are the cringiest shit ever. Z-A is okay, though I don't personally love either and Black/White is the same. Kiawe feels like an actual character, and a likeable one at that, and Olivia is the only fuckable nig in the series.

Also it's Masters, obviously the writing isn't gonna be as profound as anything in the mainline games. These are just little fanservice treats for people who like cute character interactions, that's literally what Mastersex is for. This should be very obvious from the way they write Lusamine for example, which is an even more trivialised and dumbed down version of USUM Lusamine who is already a joke compared to SM Lusamine
Why would you even play this game if stuff like this bothers you so much lol
