Pikachu vs Charizard is kino as fuck in a bubble but the rest of Ash vs Leon is a slog for me so the battle as a whole is pretty boring. Comparatively, something like Ash vs Paul in the Lily of the Valley conference is much more engaging on account of the fact that it seldom has a dull moment. Paul's cold and calculated approach to battling and his history with Ash make for a more interesting and personal match combined with more consistently interesting battle writing make for an overall far more enjoyable battle.
Though that's an issue that can be applied to much of JN's run, not just Ash vs Leon
