>>50103719I've been thinking about this one a lot lately. It's crazy that it was one of the first Pokemon revealed for its generation (to the point that it actually appears in the Johto anime), received a unique gimmick, and was the blockade Pokemon for its game similar to Snorlax and Sudo before it. And yet, here we are. It's pretty much totally forgotten even after getting protean. What a strange turn of events. But then again it was revealed back in the day when Generation 3 was still a big mystery and also at a time where the lead up marketing for each new game just revealed generic ass pokémon before anything else. Nowadays we are used to seeing the starters, early game Pokemon, legendaries and maybe a few others ahead of time. But the period between generations 2 and 5, especially waiting for Generation 3, was kind of the Wild West, to be honest. I remember how ridiculous it was because we would get snippets of information that were so far apart and, like Kecleon, so inconsequential to the final game we were getting. In a weird way, when I think of this Pokemon it reminds me of those days and gives me a warm feeling of nostalgia for when the speculation community was still small and running off of literally nothing
