some fun facts i figured out from the teraleak review i did today:
>Saori Den was chosen as Director due to entering the industry in order to work on Pokemon, as well as being a young woman, which TPC thought would help her create a story that better connects with younger audiences (boys and girls aged 4-9). She was excited to be chosen for the role, and was looking forward to the challenging work and introducing "feminine" concepts to the anime.
>The reason for this was because while JN did quite well with older audiences due to it essentially being the finale of the Ashnime, with all of the lore that entails, because Ash was portrayed as a "veteran" Trainer younger audiences didn't feel as if they really were growing alongside Ash and thus couldn't connect with his character. This is a known sentiment for this demographic that TPC continuously tries to recapture generation after generation.
>Due to her being completely new to directing, a plan was put in place for her workload to be supported in an unprecedented three-director system.
>Tetsuo Yajima was chosen as Action Director due to his work on XY, M21 and M23. TPC hoped that he would be able to help out with animation, as well as camera work and choreography during action scenes.
>Daiki Tomiyasu was chosen as Creative Director due to his work as Series Director in SM, as well as being Executive Director in the then-airing JN. TPC praised him as having an incredibly high-level understanding of Pokemon, and his role in HZ would be with regards to the story and voice acting.
>Note: After the first year of HZ concluded, Yajima left the production and Team Kato reverted back to the standard Executive Director/Series Director system, with Tomiyasu becoming Executive Director and Den becoming Series Director.
