You would still start in Vaniville Town, but instead of being essentially handheld to your starter in Aquacorde Town, you would receive it reminiscent of B&W, except at your friend's house, this friend being the player's opposing sex, ie Calem vs Serena. Think a sleepover plus Pokémon. They would already have the starter advantageous towards yours, but only reveal that once you choose your own, since it is your 16th birthday after all, capped off with a rival battle.
Once you receive your starter, you are instructed to go to the professor, off in Lumiose City, and even Route 1 will be overhauled. It has Pokémon. You can avoid them, but its winding if you do so.
Aquacorde Town is about the same, but Tierno (the fat fuck who dances) actually has dance teams going throughout the game. Contest star material no doubt. Trevor is sorta rewritten, as he is now a battle nerd, and every time you fight him, or rematch him in the post game, he will have a different battle style, be it doubles, triples, rotation, inverse, etc. No sky battle though, but that is a bit more prevalent, as even bird maniacs will fight in those battles.
Shauna was hard, but in the end, she is the short end of the stick, stuck with the starter weak to yours, strong against your rivals. She won't end up as the Professor assistant type, but rather take the defeatist role, replacing your rival. They will always try and win against you, because they had the better starter, they had it first.
Route 2 is normal, but the first mon you encounter is not predetermined. This is where the first major change is, ie the expansion of the kalos dex. Cross gen evos and various old mons make their way to the Expanded Kalos Dex. Route 2, for example, has Dunsparce and Sunkern added, among others.
Santalune Forest is remade entirely. It is no longer a ripoff of Veridian Forest.
