Furthermore one of the best thing about past Pokemon anime that everybody has to struggle and grow in order to accomplish their goal. Ash, May and Dawn had to start from scratch and face many failure to grow. Even Gary who was a prodigy with 10 badges could not get pass the qualification round of Indigo League which made him more humble and less narcissistic in later series.
Then BW and XY happen where a racist name Trip won the entire Junior Cup without a scratch and then they introduce a duel protagonist named Alain who didn't even had 5% of character development that Ash gone though yet gets everything Ash wasn't allowed to get for 20 years and never faced any consequences for all the mistakes that he made that hurt other people and doomed a region.
So yes, if Riko or Roy wins the league and become Paldea champion then they will be Mary Sue like Alain. Nobody wants another Alain except for self inserting chunni who wishes the world will hand everything to them just like XY&Z series did for Alain.
