Most default to that now because it was the last one. For a while, a lot of people strangely defaulted to his BW design for some reason. Sometimes you even see fan artists drawing him in his BW outfit, where his DP or XY outfit contextually should be. My guess though is that those are from people who didn't watch the show and picked the first image on Google they found. For me, the great outfit cut-off is after XY, because he lost his gloves. Even those AU movies that were going on while he was gloveless in the main show gave him his gloves back.

Would be the worst Pokemon game on Switch if BDSP didn't exist. At least Let's Go, the Legends games, and SV were attempting something new even if they were ass. SS is just a bad JRPG with performance issues it shouldn't have. It makes XY look amazing instead of mediocre and gives base DP a run for it's money in "why would you play this?".

Pokemon anime was an episodic anime which require a cast of quirky characters. This is why Original series worked because OS Ash, Brock, Misty, Jessie and James was actually quirky and funny. This cast remained mostly unchanged till DP series with lead girl position often being swap with different girls so writers only had to think of a girl that fits right between Ash and Brock. This is probably why the downfall of Pokemon anime started with Brock leaving and TRio being serious which was big change and not in a good way, XY series made things worst by removing all Ash's quirk to turn him into cool prince charming for losers to self insert while Serena's entire character was to simp over him. They also picked a battle loving writer to write romance cause she was a female and she did the laziest thing which was to copy paste Naruhina.

Ash need to be quirky again instead of wakey and Serena needs her own quirk to fit in with Ash's original quirk. Its sad that the anime still haven't learn from their mistake since the way they handled Liko and Roy.

Pokemon anime always supposed to be episodic since it is a WEEKLY Anime with each series being over 100 episodes. People who talk big about overreaching plot so does not really care about plot, they just want to see something visually impressive with lots of sakuga such as Solo Levelling. However Solo Levelling had one thing weekly anime like Pokemon can't have, Time. XY and XY&Z is probably the most visually impressive anipoke series which got mogged by Youkai Watch which proves that all the people talk big about plots are just a minority.

Episodie anime success depends on its cast, not in its story. The anime require good set of cast with a premise that can be used to make lots of episodic episode.

The problem with LGPE was more than the developers didn't know what to do.
It was basically the same story but It wasn't a remake, Blue already beat the badge and Red became the champion.
The Game was basically an interquel with the OG character being the PokeSpecial gang

Agree, Matsuda tried to mix RSE to have his definitive experience.
I think is the same problem with XY, in the end I believe BW is Matsuda definitive Game because is purelu what he wanted to do, without nostalgia or mixing Game design from various games

I mean for me, I was a bit older when I watched the DP anime so I was under no inflated hopes that he would be winning it. Like if you already watched the older seasons, its painfully obvious that Ash wasnt winning any league, so I was just watching the anime for the journey, characters, and pokemon. And that's what the pokemon anime is, its basically a marketing tool to showoff new pokemon and was not doing anything to really set itself as an actual shonen anime until about XY which is the reason why XY's anime was the breaking point for many people. Pokemon anime up until XY were secretly slice of life and taking it any more seriously than that is just a personal problem

After Ash went though 25 years of bullshit because of those strick guideline, the writers does not have any right to say those guideline does not matter anymore because its their precious Liko and Roy's turn to follow it . They made their choice when they wrote Gen V anime, they can not change it anymore.

The timeline's fucky, as it's always been with the anime, LZA hasn't happened yet because Emma still uses her XY design, but the events of SV and both of its DLCs still happened because Kieran is in his Post-Mindbreak getup, even though both of these presumably take place around similar timeframes when looking at the game timeline, at least going off of the consistency that "Leon's defeat was recent enough that he's still being revered, but his loss is still fresh on everyone's minds" between SV and LZA.

Here's my shitty opinion. Diamond and Pearl, while flawed, aren't as bad as people make them out to be. ORAS is better than RS, but a far cry from Emerald. USUM is, at best, a sidegrade to SM. Gen 1 has "first-game syndrome" where it's fine, but limited compared to what came after. The fact that XY are lower than RBY says more about XY than Gen 1.
