>>58256331Much like how Scizor had people bitching about not enough good Fire or Electric types to deal with it, GF eventually made some really bombass Fire mons in BW that actually had bulk (though Electric still fucking sucks) that in gen5 Scizor was entirely manageable.
But in XY while Talon's whole thing was dealing with Volcarona/M-Blaziken, it was right off the bat a different landscape in terms of powercreep. Flying is a very broad, mostly unresisited type & Talon's Fire dealt with Steels. But instead of making better Rock or Electric types they said lol not this time & cut it off at the source being a signature Ability so only a single mon would be affected.
Yeah Lycanroc, Dazzling/QM, were niche, whereas Psycic Terrain would've been more than enough, then I believe it was its performance in VGC that made GF go a little overboard as people were running it purely as a support mon without any rhyme or reason.
Koko was the nail in the coffin though, since Rock will forever suck no matter what & GF STILL refuses to make Electric a functioning type without some mascot/legendary bullshit tacked on, it now carries the entire type with reckless abandon as the Smogonbird was caught in its crossfire when it was already long passed dead.
Though I'd be lying if boosted Supersonic Skystrikes weren't missed, those were the days lol.
Personally I think Talon's in a good spot now, decent enough as a Tailwind setter in VCG & does pretty damn well as the premiere Boots+Defog supportmon in a wide variety of teams.
