It's really interesting to me that the first main full 3D title started the trend of constant performance issues in Pokemon games. Like, Gen 2/4 had an incorrectly programmed HP drain formula making it slow as shit, Gen 4 seems to be intentionally slow in a lot of ways, I'm pretty sure Gen 3 is the last Pokemon game to consistently run at 60 FPS, weird glitch bullshit can cause long load times especially in Gen 1 where weird glitch bullshit is the most common, and the first five generations will lag a little bit when the game gets busy. But starting in XY "getting busy" seems to happen in battle when there's more than two Pokemon on screen, or the Pokemon uses a move, or the battle scene changes to anything other than the default view, or the Pokemon has too many triangles, or the 3D is on, or for seemingly no reason occasionally. Like, if you had a gun to your head that went off the moment the game dropped below 30 FPS I don't think you'd make it to Lumiose let alone beating the game. And all for something that a lot of people think looks worse than the shitty tweened sprites of Gen 5 which is really unfortunate because it's probably the best looking part of XY, the Gen 6 overworld style is probably the second worst Pokemon has looked outside of RSE's dogshit overworld spritework in spite of being severely less likely to lag the shit out of the game. And it only gets worse from there so it's arguable Gen 6 has some of the better performance if you ignore triples/rotations (which given people seem to ignore how bad Gen 4 multiplayer can get I'm willing to let that just be a footnote as well).
