I will consider LZA happening 5 years after XY because that's what the game says. That's ok to me.
If I try to connect or explain why some elements are in one place, but not in other, I blame the creators not thinking that far ahead. Rotomphones or megas beyond Gen 6 probably weren't meant to exist, but then Nintendo shits its pants with Yokai Watch, so they force Gamefreak to make a piece of tech/companion to follow/help you plus new gimmicks to keep relevance, and this opens more cans of worms that they never thought to open first.
I usually try to not think of ANYTHING involving retcons, because that only proves the story has massive plotholes to plug.
But keeping it short: I find funny XK-End of world scenarios happen almost yearly in the Pokémon World.
