I’ve actually really been really enjoying PM and am super excited due to the sheer potential the series has; normally you can expect what will happen in a series(Ash will travel to X city and challenge X gym and meet X game characters), but genuinely anything can happen in this series. It can literally become the best Pokemon series ever, the only thing holding it back is the writers themselves and how far they’re willing to go. Gary being a recurring character and the Iris episode give me a lot of hope regarding that, and the mere idea of Project Mew as well as a really good way to give Goh’s goal a real sense of direction beyond just “MONSTAH BALLU GOU” to anything in throwing radius. You can literally see them tone down the shittier parts of the anime and improve as they go along; the TR gacha has a bit more “lore” surrounding it and they don’t use it as much, every old character return episode has better pacing and storyboarding than the last, they are improving on how Goh interacts with his pokemon on screen(Drizzile, Absol, Flabebe episodes) to the point where those captures actually feel meaningful and not just him checking off a list(rate of captures has gone down too, less spam). Also they are finally starting to show Ash and Goh’s other pokemon beyond just Pikachu, Cinderace, and Goh’s current shouldermon more in each episode. Maybe they’re starting to fix some of the problems people have with how main party members would just...disappear for three months. And then there’s all of the rumors about a sinnoh and crown tundra arc...speculation aside, I genuinely think that PM is at a crossroads/turning point. If they continue to inprove the series from here, it will evolve into something truly fun to watch. Lets hope they save Serena, the best, for last!
