XY is actually my favorite season of the show, but I have to agree about the obnoxious fans part. They think that their show is the center of the anime and think that not referencing it is "discrimination", never mind the fact that XY was actually well-represented in PM2019. They're also extremely bitter at fans of other series, as well as being extremely bitter at later seasons. Notice how the most vocal critics of SM/PM2019/MPM tend to be XYfags.

Actually no. There were a lot of XYfags making threads on /a/ in the two weeks before Kalos Katastrophe. I'm not certain what XY did differently compared to BW, but I've heard Yajima and his writing staff were literally teasing his audience the whole time about how it was 'the best Ash.'
