When I said it was something that is inherent to their DNA, I wasn't lying. I agree that it was a natural reaction to how harsh the fandom was to Sun and Moon, but it's come to a point where " defending " SM is really just complaining about the people who didn't like it.

Believe it or not, the amourfags were inspired to attack others unprovoked because of how anti-amourfags attacked the fans unprovoked. They finally started doing that once episode 59 of XY was announced via title in 2015. Prior to that point, Serena and amourfags were a lot nicer and minding their own business when anti-Serena/amourfags went after them unprovoked.
