1.) Capture and use the first Pokémon I see on any route/dungeon/etc.
2.) If it faints, it dies. Never to be used again. (I permabox my dead)
Thing is, I don't merely box the Pokémon I legally catch; I raise them so that in the event one of my teammates do fall, they can fulfill their place or a similar niche. This also helps keep my losses at a minimum, as the teams are always well balanced when exploring any given area (mind you, I'm also doing a blind Nuzlocke run - that is to say that I have never played this particular game before doing a Nuzlocke run). It's also been lots of fun; unexpected heroes have emerged in the most dire circumstances and saved my ass a few times.
The only Pokémon I DO catch on the rare occasion are the shinies, but these are instantly permaboxed and NEVER used OR nicknamed under any circumstances in accordance with the rules; they are essentially my prisoners of war.
